On a beautiful hot afternoon at Hazlehead, Aberdeen Dons played host to Turriff United in the 13s League Cup.

The visitors came out the traps flying and hemmed the Dons back in the opening encounters and rightly took the lead when Simson failed to hold a shot which went through her hands and dropped into the net in 3 minutes.

Turriff continued to put pressure on the Aberdeen defence and their captain Home was having a fantastic game in the centre of the park and was controlling midfield.

As the half wore on the Dons started to get a foothold in the game and a fantastic strike in the 19th minute from Dunn from well outside the box flew past the Tuffiff keeper Harrison for 1-1.

1 minute later Rennie made it 2-1 to Aberdeen with another strike from outside the box that beat the Turriff keeper low into the net.

In the second half the Dons were a different team and although Turriff had a few chances mostly from their captain the Dons started to dictate the match.

Aberdeen went 3-1 up in the 35th minute when Brzoza beat the Turriff keeper with a good finish leaving no chance.

The Dons continued to press and 2 minutes later Rennie grabbed her second of the match firing home to make it 4-1 Aberdeen.

Aberdeen carried on pushing forward and the Turriff keeper Harrison who had a great 2nd half pulled off a number of good saves to stop Aberdeen extending the lead.

Another mistake by the Dons in the 54th minute allowed Turriff to grab a 2nd, Simson was left with little options at a goal kick and her pass out was pressurised by Turriff who stole the ball and fired it into the unguarded net.

That set back didn't affect the Dons too much N Thomson having 3 great chances but being denied on each occasion by the Turriff keeper Harrison.

In the 58th minute Aberdeen killed the match off when Elrick beat the keeper to make it 5-2 Aberdeen.

The girls played well today in the heat and came out deserving winners in the end.

Credit to Turriff who made life difficult for Aberdeen and were very well organised, we wish them well for the rest of the season.

We await the draw for the next round of the cup to see who we get.
