The club’s under-13 girls booked their place in the showpiece match with a semi-final victory over Kilmarnock Ladies on Sunday.

They required a penalty shoot-out to see off the Ayrshire side, after the game finished 2-2 during regulation time.

A club spokesman congratulated the girls for their achievement.

He told Courier Sport: “We are delighted that our under-13s have made it to the Scottish Cup Final for the first time in the girls’ history.

“This is a fantastic achievement for a very young squad who have worked hard on and off the pitch and deserve to be there.

“This is a massive step forward for Musselburgh Windsor as a community club to have knocked out big clubs like Celtic and Kilmarnock in previous rounds on the way to the final.”

Their journey to the final started with a preliminary round win over Queen of the South Blues, before they beat Dryburgh Athletic in round one.

Inverkeithen Hillfield Swift Strollers were dispatched in the second round to see the Honest Toun girls into the last 16.

There, they beat Celtic U13s 3-1, before beating Borouhgmuir Thistle Purples in the quarter-finals.

And now, the Windsor girls will play Aberdeenshire-based Donside for the trophy.
