Celtic Coach, Edward Gallagher said:
“The players put in a very professional performance against a team who are very competitive and strong within their division.
The plan was to dominate possession and move the ball quickly and the players did that. There was an opportunity to get players some well-needed game-time and that puts us in a good place ahead next week’s match against Hamilton.
Kathleen McGovern was fantastic up front, grabbing a hat-trick as was Chloe Craig who, despite playing at the back, always wanted to get involved in attack.
Finally, I was absolutely delighted by Girls’ Academy graduate Nicole Cairney who has been on the fringes of the first-team over the past few months and she delivered with a great goal and a few assists to match.”
Edinburgh University Hutchison Vale Head Coach, Mike Ross said:
"Massive credit to the players today for the attitude they showed to win the game. Hamilton always give us a tough game and today was no different.
We had short preparation time since Wednesday nights game for today but we have a group of players who are adaptable and can change to what’s been asked of them. I know the referee may be talked about after this game but having re watched parts of the game I felt both teams got some questionable decisions - including the Hamilton late goal which wasn’t a free kick. I did feel though we had chances to score more though and hit the crossbar and had one off the line in the first half.
Focus now turns back to the league next week. Thanks to all those who came out to support in the rain today.
