Debio Keen To Make Up For Lost Time...

January 18, 2017

Recent signing Alison Debio is loving life at Forfar Farmington so far and hopes she can help the side return to the top flight at the first attempt.

The 20 year old defender joined the club last month and is eager for the season to begin with the League Cup first round on February 19th while they entertain East Fife in the SWPL2 opener on March 12th.

Debio last played for Cumbernauld Colts however she explained she had been finding it difficult to travel after moving to Dundee for university and after only playing university football for a short spell, she was delighted to jump at the chance to train with Mark Nisbet’s side.

“I am very excited to have signed. I was looking to get back into competitive football out with university again but I just had no idea how to go about it so when the opportunity arose to trial with Forfar I was both surprised and very happy.”

She continued: “Since coming to university I had only really played with the university team but I missed playing with a team competitively. I always knew that Forfar had a great set up but thought it was too far to travel when in fact it isn’t.”

“When I was contacted by the club I thought I’d take the opportunity and see what came of it, now I couldn’t be happier that I have signed with the side.”

The former Stenhousemuir, Falkirk and Glasgow City youth reckons the squad environment is one of the best she has been involved in and hopes it can bring out the best in her.

“I can honestly say that I am really enjoying myself. The club, both the girls and staff, have been tremendously welcoming and very nice and helpful. It is definitely a very supportive environment where everyone wants the best for the club and everyone is definitely on the same wavelength as to how this can be achieved.”

“I really appreciate the environment because everyone wants the best; we are all challenged to be the best players we can be which will hopefully bring good things for the club.”

Farmington will host newly promoted side East Fife in their league opener and Debio feels the side have what it takes to return to SWPL1 after last season’s relegation.

“I definitely feel that this side can bounce back up to the top flight. There is a lot of work being put in and I feel like this can definitely be Forfar’s year which I am looking forward to being a part of.”
