Hibernian Ladies warmed up for their upcoming crunch match with league leaders Glasgow City by demolishing SWFL Division 2 side Renfew 19-0.

Caroline Heron (7), Abi Harrison (6), Sarah Ewens (3), Rachel Small (2) and Rachel McLauchlan were on the score sheet as Chris Roberts’ side comfortably progressed to the 4th round of the Scottish Cup.

The Ladies side will now look to carry their goal scoring form into the top of the table clash on Sunday, with the prospect of overtaking their rivals with a victory.

A strong starting line-up was a signal of intent that the lower league side were not to be taken lightly, and Hibernian immediately showed their quality with the opener after 5 minutes. Kirsty Smith found space on the left and her delivery fell for Harrison to tap in.

The goals kept coming, with Harrison completing her hat-trick after only 14 minutes and Heron opening her account to give Hibs an early 4-0 lead.

After Heron added a second it was the turn of new signing Small, who scored her first goals for the club with fiancée Martin Boyle looking on from the touchline.

It was 9-0 by half time, with Harrison (4), Heron (3) and Small (2) the goal scorers.

The pressure did not relent in the second half despite three half time substitutions, with front pairing Harrison and Heron in sublime form. It was 12 on the hour mark, with Heron adding another double and Harrison one.

Substitute Ewens got in on the act after 62 minutes and doubled her tally minutes later, before Harrison and Heron made it 6 goals each after 81 minutes to make it 16-0.

McLauchlan added her name to the score sheet and Heron scored her seventh to pip Harrison in their personal goal duel. Ewens completed the scoring, and her hat-trick, in the 90th minute.

Head Coach Roberts was pleased with the manner of the victory, saying: “I was delighted with the professionalism of the girls today. “The performance was exactly what we wanted.

“Despite the score, Renfew showed great character and in spells played some good football. We wish them well for the rest of the season.”
