This afternoon Tori Sousa played her final game in a Forfar Farmington shirt before sadly having to head back to America this coming week.
The 23 year old joined the club last August from Central Connecticut State University originally until the end of the 2015 season and made a massive contribution to the side staying up.
Sousa netted on her debut in a 7-0 win over Inverness City before following it up with a quick fire opener away to Hearts a fortnight later. She was in fantastic form in her final five games, netting eight goals; her double in the 5-2 win over Hearts completing the ‘Great Escape’ with the club finishing twelve points above the relegation zone having been eight behind and staring relegation in the face midway through the season.
The 2014 North East Conference Player of the Year returned to America following the conclusion of the season but gave Forfar a boost ahead of the current season when she returned in late February and began her time at the club as she finished the first spell, scoring in her second debut against Hearts in the League Cup.
The highly talented Sousa impressed with her performances this season as well with five goals in her twelve appearances including a goal against Glasgow City in April.
Following the conclusion of this afternoon’s game, the New Hampshire native had netted an impressive fifteen goals in just 22 games while chipping in with ten assists.
Tori said: “This whole experience has truly been amazing and I want to thank everyone who has been a part of it. I have met so many great people and have made friends that I know I will have for the rest of my life. I am so glad that I could be involved with this club, both on and off the pitch, and a big thanks has to go to chairman Colin Brown for making this experience a reality. I also want to thank the girls on the team for dealing with me and my loud American ways, I’ll genuinely miss everyone.
Thank you all again for an amazing experience!”
Everyone at the club would like to wish Tori all the best on her return to America and thank her for her massive contribution to the club’s efforts both on and off the park over the last year.
