The Colts suffered their first league defeat to a disciplined and organised Motherwell side as both sides sweltered in the Cumbernauld sun at Broadwood.
The visitors had the game won in the opening 45 minutes, going in at the break with a three goal advantage.
Suzanne Grant opened the scoring in the 19th minute, Helen Templeton doubled their advantage four minutes later and Sophie Gallacher completing the first half scoring as the half time whistle was about to blow.
After the break, the home side came out with a point to prove and pride to recover from a poor first half representation of themselves.
They started straight from kick off with player of the match forcing a corner straight from the restart.
As both sides began to tire from the strength sapping sun, the Colts seemed to create more with their possession.
However, they were only to get a solitary goal in the second 45 for their endeavours. This coming from a speculative strike from centre half Ruth Young. The defender's strike went through the hands of Lauren McGregor in the Motherwell goal 8 minutes from the end.
After the match the Colt's manager Julie McSherry struggled to hide her overall disappointment at her sides defeat.
We were very poor the first half as we gave away a couple of sloppy goals. But, the positives to take were our response in the second half in how we had some nice neat passages of play and how we competed more. I thought in the first half we allowed ourselves to be out muscled a little.
