Jeanfield Swifts under 15’s travelled up to Forfar with a 100% record knowing that a win would give them an advantage at the top of the table.
Forfar however had the same intentions and would prove a stern test.
Jeanfield started the game the better of the two teams dominating much of the first 20 minutes but failed to create any clear cut chances. Despite this Jess Cromwell did manage to bring a good save out of the goalkeeper with a drilled effort from 25 yards which was tipped around the post.
Hannah Clark then created a chance of her own when she brilliantly charged down the goalkeeper but unfortunately the ball rebounded off her and over the bar. Rachel Wolecki also had few long range efforts which failed to trouble the keeper.
Forfar created very little and their only chance came with a quick free kick just over the bar after Megan Sidey brought the Forfar striker down just outside the box.
However, ultimately for Swifts there would be a sucker punch, a good ball played through the defence resulted in the winger being 1v1 and despite a good save from Megan Sidey, the Forfar striker put the rebound into the empty net from 9 yards out.
Swifts then struggled to get a foothold in the game until late in the first half when a good ball was played through from midfield into the path of Tara Laughlin who finished well above the goalkeeper.
The second half got underway and it was an evenly contested affair for most of it with the game becoming a little scrappy and neither team having any real meaningful passage of play.
Then a ball was played forward into the feet of Hannah Clark who turned expertly and then fired the ball low and in off the post to give Swifts the lead.
Soon after however, Forfar got themselves back in the game.
Swifts carelessly lost the ball midway in their own half, the ball was quickly played out wide to the winger who finished well past a helpless Megan Sidey.
Swifts didn’t manage to create much else in the game and could have lost when the ball fell to a Forfar attacker 4 yards from goal but she sent the ball high over the bar.
It was a well-earned point for Swifts, however they might feel they could have got more from the game.
In addition, a couple of players missing, Beth Dakers and Eve Barnett picking up injuries and being unable to continue, and illness to a couple of players, Swifts can definitely be proud of the point they collected.
