SWFL1 North Falkirk Ladies v Dee Ladies

Falkirk Ladies welcomed Dee Ladies to Stirling University on Sunday and were looking to bounce back from a disappointing result the previous week.

The game started brightly but it was Falkirk who had the first opening.

Some good play in midfield saw Rachel Donaldson released down the right and her ball across the box was met by Sammy Hare who connected well but saw her effort go just over the bar.

As Falkirk settled into the game it seemed only a matter of time before the deadlock was broken and it almost came on the 30 minute mark. A ball from defence found Rachel Halliday wide left and she cut in and hit a lovely curling shot which came crashing off the inside of the post and the keeper was able to gather. HT 0-0 The second half started the same with Falkirk dominating the midfield and a string of chances saw another effort come off the post.

The breakthrough came however in the 23rd minute, some great defensive work from Meri Saokannel saw her come away with the ball, she played a lofted pass forward which saw Rachel Donaldson beat the offside trap and calmly loft the ball over the advancing goalkeeper.

Falkirk Ladies 1 v 0 Dee Ladies Dee Ladies had a great chance to go level when they broke down the left however Joanne Beddie in goal was alert to this and sprinted off her line to gather. Substitute Beth McKay was causing the Dee Ladies right back all kinds of problems and in the 31st minute a mistimed challenge after Beth cut in the park resulted in the referee pointing to the spot.

Captain Adele Paterson stepped up and made no mistake striking the ball high into the left hand corner of the goal.

Falkirk Ladies 2 v 0 Dee Ladies. Dee Ladies did have one final chance but again some excellent defensive play ensured that it came to nothing. Final Score - Falkirk Ladies 2 v 0 Dee Ladies. Coach Comments:

This has been our best performance of the season so far, the girls were excellent today and we looked very strong all over the pitch.

We knew if we continued to play the way we were the goals would come and we thoroughly deserved the 3 points today.

We now have two weeks to prepare for our next match v Central and we will look to build on this performance.
